Custom Spec
As a custom cabinetmaker, designer and installer, I have my own custom furniture and cabinets of contractors, the stores, or purchased directly by Home installed from the manufacturer.
I've found that over 90% of my prefabricated systems with either damaged, faulty, incorrect or incomplete ordered Cabinets are ordered. In the pre-World, there are large producers who are supplying hundreds of kitchens in the month. If there is a problem with a customer's order waits and waits usually about six weeks before the order will be corrected with a new mission. In the meantime, install everything in the kitchen to the context is kept as eg, countertops, back splash of gas, water, etc. Many homeowners will start at this point frustrated and begin to lose confidence in the contractor. Contractors buy ready-made cabinets do not want to know about these sorts of problems.
So why not continue to buy the prefab contractor? The cost is the main reason. Before I started building custom cabinets for a major reconstruction contractor to purchase prefabricated houses to save money. When I say "Save Money", I mean for the contractor. The contractor would mark these cabinets so high that they made a big profit and fees for the period of customer-specific prices. I must admit, if these kitchens were finally finished (months later) looked nice, but the final cost, wow.
However, I installed the cabinets for them. I saw first hand how they were built and the materials used. These companies, which I will not name, used Materials such as, 1 / 2 "particle board with a simulated wood vinyl veneer and 1 / 8" hardboard back. The solid wood, and sometimes was so bent, you could Rocking chair with him. Use almost all the hot glue and cardboard mount brackets to the face frame. We had to be careful when installing these delicate cabinets. Drop one, and they would probably collapse. I believe that therefore show a complete broadcast of the slab always one or two would have with some damage.
Now I know that these large manufacturers choose not to do manually, materials for which there closets. They use what ever in their wood stocks. They must the price effect, the materials and craftsmanship play a major role in their manufacturing process. Let's build it as fast as you can, with minimal cost.
Enough of the prefabricated, let me tell you, a little bit about custom cabinetry. As I said in the beginning of this article I am a custom builder and designer. When busy I directly with the owner, I am able to get an idea of their wants, needs and function. After developed, manufactured and installed many a Kitchen, I have a great sense of what is practical and what is not easy work. I believe that before you design a kitchen, you need a few Installing kitchens.
When I design a kitchen, I try all the space available, without using the user-friendliness. Since my furniture is the custom, I can not use fillers. My cabinet uppers are beteween on the ceiling with no spaces, voids or 6 "fillers. True custom cabinetry always built to your specifications and not proposed that some manufacturer's specifications.
When building my custom furniture, I can choose now to hand and choice hardwood lumber. I use a 3 / 4 "birch plywood ready for my boxes with a 1 / 4" back matching. My face images are attached with wood glue (there is a reason why they are "timber" glue and not "hot" glue) and blind hole jointery. I also make my toes occurs regardless of the cabinets, so that they can be leveled and plumbed with ease (granite installers love us for this). If possible, I build a straight run of cabinets, such as a cupboard, but as a separate building cabinets. This looks so much cleaner without the joint seams. I also have my installation of furniture with a custom conversion Spray paint finish (above) on the line for the wood surfaces, and of course I can install and work in progress.
I can take the legs, fluted columns and arches, to the beauty of a custom designed kitchen and make your vision a reality. It's your kitchen, your living space and Your home. Why would you turn it to a manufacturer to decide what you can or not. Drive you will not be limited with prefabricated furniture. Let us design Your kicthen it is at full potential.
